Roberto Mendonça

Roberto Mendonça is a natural leader of the Tumbira community, where the course is hosted. Roberto used to be a logger, and work selling special wood from the forest. Touched by the conservation awareness and the new business alternatives that came when his community became a Protected Reservation, he became a local tourism enterpreneur, and enchants every visitor with his great stories, warm reception and great knowledge about the forest and its mysteries.
Terezinha Macedo

Terezinha represents the simple and deep wisdom of the Tumbira people. She, along with other local actors, will welcome participants and invite them to get involved in day-to-day community activities.
Virgilio Viana
Manaus, Amazonas
Virgilio Viana is a PhD in Evolutionary Biology from Harvard University, and postdoc at University of Florida. Currently he is Director General at FAS, member of World Economic Forum (WEF) Global Council on Poverty and SD; International Advisory Board of ESPA; Consultative Board of Royal Society´s Human Resilience Project; co-chair of Forests, Oceans, Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services of UN´s Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN), as well as chair of SDSN-Amazonia. Valdemir Kambeba
Três Unidos, Amazonas
Mister Valdemir Kambeba is the leader of his native Kambeba people in the community of Três Unidos. The Kambebas are a ethnicity that during the last decades has been losing it's culture, language and the people are spread. Not conformed with the situation and became one of the leaders of a movement that is bringing back the power of this culture through education, strenghtening its roots and uniting their people in a very proud community. Through local projects, some of the youngsters of this community are now in the national team for archery.
João Rafael Brites
Is a founder of the Transformers Movement, part of the Sandbox community and the Global Shapers Lisbon Hub, and represented world youth at the 2010 Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos. Masters in Economics and International Management, he teaches Econometrics, Communication Leadership and Ethics and Project Management at Nova School of Business and Economics. His Passion for sustainability, brought him to co-create the first Amazon Summer School with FAS.

A Social Innovator, Storyteller and Mentor at Comover. I live with my wife and children at Vila Madalena in São Paulo, Brazil. Have mentored groups and young professionals in their transformational journeys at various organizations. He has been also involved with TED as the TEDxVilaMadá organizer and TED Senior Ambassador in Brazil for many years. Loves carpentry and biking.
Leandro Pinheiro

Leandro Pinheiro is a senior consultant in social investment and sustainable development. Previously he was responsible for a portfolio of over 60 social projects nationwide. Leandro has a large experience on designing community development initiatives including social enterprises, microfinance, early childhood development, education and payment for environmental services. During the last years, he has enrolled in executive education programs at Harvard University aiming at improving effectiveness of social programs. Additionally, participated in an international CGIAR/CCAFS effort to design and test a Social Learning M&E framework for climate change and food security resilience worldwide.

He is co-founder and CEO of InterChange, a for more than profit training and process consulting company based in Denmark. He is working across the world in all kinds of contexts where ever leaders are sincerely calling for help with their transformations. He is a co-creator of The Art of Hosting, The Flow Game, The Warrior of the Heart practicing for peace dojo, former Chair of the Board of the Danish Entrepreneurs Association, longtime international professional conference organiser (PCO) and process host..
Edgard Gouveia

His early career in professional volleyball in Brazil was soon replaced by training in Architecture and Urbanism at the University of Santos. Aſter graduation, he and his colleagues co- founded the Elos Institute, an NGO dedicated to community activism. In 1999, founded the Warriors Without Weapons Program, an annual five-week training for young entrepreneurs on five continents. He created the Oasis game, an open-source community activism model that has been disseminated internationally in the last 13 years. Over the past two years,he has been actively involved in creating “PlayTheCall” the Global Game to mobilize two billion people in citizen activism projects under the leadership of young people and children.
Edgard continues to travel giving lectures and workshops to spread awareness of cooperation and the idea of "playing to save the world" in a way that is fast, fun and free. He is Ashoka Fellow, Berkana since 2006 and 2013 TRIP Transformer

Laura Candelaria

Laura Candelaria is a bachelor in public administration. She is passionate about sustainability and believes that the human relationship with nature is a key element for an integral and balanced development. Participated in the Amazon Summer School in 2016 and thereafter began to develop projects with youth protected areas of the Amazon Rainforest. She is currently coordinates the activities of the Amazon-edu education platform.
Raquel Luna Viggiani
Tumbira - AM
With a master's in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability, Raquel focuses her work in alternative education for sustainable change, by combining diversity, empathic mindset, appreciative view and facilitated spaces for dialogue. She worked in FAS as manager for the Sustainability and Forest Conservation Education Centers in Amazon protected areas, and believes development interventions can play a role in creating a sustainable society by bringing communities into asking questions instead of pre-packaged answers.
Bruna Viapiana

Bruna Viapiana has been collaborating with multiple people and organizations around the world in the creation of different types of learning journey experiences. She has developed educational programs for youth and adults who are engaged in shaping themselves and society at large towards a more sustainable lifestyle and future. Among other projects she coordinates educational experiences at YIP - The International Youth Initiative Program and has been part of the Amazon Summer School team since 2016.
Isabel Chender
Nova Scotia, Canada
Isabel is a graphic facilitator, program and curriculum designer, and project leader passionate about creating spaces where mutual learning and collective clarity can be discovered. Through skillful authentic engagement and the use of creative graphics, Isabel works to support, illuminate, and catalyze individuals and groups by seeing together and moving clarity into action. Her studies at ALIA (Authentic Leadership in Action), Masters degree (B.A) in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability (M.Sc) from Sweden , and bachelors in International Development Studies have provided the theoretical basis for her practical experience working on projects related to leadership, sustainability, and radical education. In addition to her work with the Amazon Summer School she is currently a strategic and creative process consultant for Brave Space, a frequent collaborator with the Art of Hosting international, an alumni and of the UnSchool of Disruptive Design and a board member of Wayside Initiative.
